The wife of the late former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi, Florence Ajimobi has been no1 trending topic on Nigerian Twitter social media. Florence Ajimobi who buried her husband yesterday, during a condolence visit blasted the Oyo state government for not offering a helping hand when her husband was sick.
According to JFB findings, a helping hand was offered by the governor of Oyo State, Eng Seyi Makinde, to his immediate past predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, when he was hospitalised and in critical condition on account of Coronavirus infection, was rejected by the family.
When Governor Makinde, was informed about his predecessor’s health, for weeks, been seriously challenged, the latter having been diagnosed with the deadly virus.
Source told us that Makinde has been reaching out personally and through his aides to his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to check on Ajimobi with whom he was in the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2007.
It was gathered that the Oyo State government has also been in contact with its Lagos counterpart through his Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Strategy, Hon Babs Oduyoye, who it was learnt, has telephone conversation with Lagos Deputy Governor, Femi Hazat.
EP scooped that the Ajimobi Family, however totally rejected the offer to help from the Oyo State government, feigning that all was well with breadwinner.
The rejection was said to have been communicated to the Lagos state government officials by the Ajimobi’s family. Makinde was said to have resorted to going through the Lagos state governor after Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, did not answer calls put to her phone by the governor and officials of the Oyo State government.
It had earlier been reported by some newspapers how doctors at the First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, returned a diagnosis of a problem of the lungs of the former governor consequent upon which he was put on a ventilator.
It was gathered that Ajimobi has since been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the specialist hospital.
The newspaper gathered that the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), before he contracted the virus, was hypertensive.
Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, who was earlier ill, is said to be ‘recuperating well’ and has been attending to issues around her husband’s condition. It was, however, gathered that neither Ajimobi family nor his close associates have been able to have access to him since he was rushed to the hospital.
