Abubakar Muhammed, a 23-year old Kuje prison escapee rearrested by the Adamawa State Police Command.
Abubakar, who is said to be facing terrorism charges and had been at the Kuje prison since 2017 before the recent breakout at the facility, was picked up in days of surveillance exercise along with 12 other suspects.
The Adamawa State Police Command said Thursday that Abubakar was trying to relocate to his native home in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State when he was picked up around an Adamawa-Borno borderline.
In a press release signed personally by the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande, the police stressed that Abubakar had disclosed that he had been in detention at the Kuje facility since 2017 over alleged involvement in terrorism.
The Commissioner said Abubakar was apprehended on Wednesday, July 20, as he was trying to make his way into Borno State.
Of the 12 other suspects that the command also arrested, Akande said they were suspected kidnappers and armed robbers and that assorted weapons had been recovered from them.
