The All Progressive Congress  Consultative Forum and the Kwara South Elders’ Forum in the state are divided over the state’s ministerial slot.

The APC consultative forum is rooting for the retention of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the Elders Forum said the ministerial slot should be given to another person within Kwara South Senatorial Zone.

The Irepodun Local Government APC Consultative Forum, had at a press conference addressed by Dr Hezekiah Oyedepo on Tuesday, last week, said Mohammed had carved a niche and justified the confidence reposed in him in various offices he had occupied in the country.

Oyedepo recalled that the minister worked in collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure the victory of the APC in Kwara State in the just concluded general elections.

He pleaded with the leaders of the party to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that Mohammed retains his position in the Federal Executive Council.

But the Kwara South  Elders Forum, in a resolution after its meeting on Wednesday, opposed the re-allocation of the state’s ministerial slot to Mohammed.

The forum accused the minister of performing below average in the interest of the state.

It said whoever would be appointed minister from the senatorial zone should be well grounded in local politics, passionate about the people and most especially the development of the state at large.

The forum’s resolution, which was jointly signed by its Chairman, Chief Bamisaiye Ayeni; and Secretary, Jide Usman, also dissociated the group from the press conference and a subsequent statement issued by the APC Consultative Forum of Irepodun Local Government Area.
